The last time the composition of a car first aid kit was changed was by Order of the Ministry of Health in 2009. According to the amendments, all medications were excluded from the first aid kit. According to the previous order of 1996, it included analgin, aspirin, validol, ammonia, etc.

  • Expiration date of a car first aid kit
  • Punishment for not having a first aid kit

But given the fact that few drivers understand the specific effects of drugs on the human body, and there is a high risk of side effects, officials decided to no longer include drugs in the first aid kit. Another reason for excluding medications was the inability to provide the necessary temperature conditions in the car to maintain shelf life.

At the same time, the sets of dressing materials were significantly expanded: bandages, plasters, etc. The composition of the car first aid kit is given in the following table.

NameSizeQuantity, pcs.

Thus, the first aid kit includes various devices for stopping bleeding and bandaging, performing artificial respiration, etc. At the same time, legislators have established only the minimum that must be in the first aid kit: if desired, the driver can equip it with additional devices.

Thanks to changes in the composition of the first aid kit, it has a lower cost compared to the previous version. So, now the average cost of a first aid kit is about 350 rubles.

The driver does not have to buy a ready-made kit; he can create a first aid kit himself.

What is not necessary to put in the first aid kit?

We have sorted out what is included in the first aid kit. Now let's look at the optional features.

Until 2010, the car first aid kit contained aspirin, iodine solution, validol, ammonia, etc. Then the Ministry of Health stated that most people providing emergency care do not have medical education and do not know how to properly use medications. Temperature changes in the car are also harmful to medications. It turns out that there is no need to carry a whole mountain of drugs with you.

Nobody forbids you to put medicines. If you have allergies, headaches, or colds, you have the right to expand the composition of your first aid kit. It is allowed to supplement it with disinfectants, antiseptics, cooling packs, and medications permitted by law.

Composition of a car first aid kit in 2020 according to GOST

The main emphasis when compiling a new list regulating the contents of a car first aid kit was on hemostatic agents. According to statistics, people often die from blood loss before the ambulance arrives. It is for this reason that the first aid kit contains a fairly large list of various sizes of sterile and non-sterile bandages, adhesive plasters, tourniquets and other means.

A complete list of what should be in a new car first aid kit: 1. One hemostatic tourniquet;

2. Two five-centimeter wide non-sterile gauze bandages 5 m long;

3. Two ten-centimeter wide non-sterile gauze bandages 5 m long;

4. One fourteen-centimeter non-sterile gauze bandage 7 m long;

5. Two seven-centimeter wide sterile gauze bandages 5 m long;

6. Two ten-centimeter wide sterile gauze bandages 5 m long;

7. One sterile fourteen-centimeter gauze bandage 7 m long;

8. One sterile dressing bag; One package of gauze sterile medical wipes;

9. Germicidal adhesive plaster 4×10 cm – 2 pieces, and 1.9×7.2 cm – 10 pieces;

10. One roll of adhesive plaster 1×250 cm;

11. “Mouth-Device-Mouth” - a means for cardiopulmonary resuscitation;

13. One pair of medical gloves;

15. Recommendations for using a first aid kit.

Previously, a car first aid kit had to carry heart medications, painkillers, disinfectants, remedies for diarrhea, allergies, etc. But now, in accordance with the procedure established by law, the driver does not need to take any pills, ammonia or other medications with him. But this does not mean that you, on your own initiative, cannot supplement your first aid kit with drugs that may be useful on the road. It’s up to you to decide what medications to put in your first aid kit. There are no restrictions, the main thing is that in addition to the medications you want, the first aid kit contains the mandatory medical items listed above.

According to the law of the Russian Federation, any non-prohibited drugs can be included in a medical travel case . You can put anything there, including painkillers, because a headache or toothache can seriously distract you from driving and reduce your alertness.

If you have a headache, Ibuprofen or Pentalgin will help out. They are often found in the car first aid kit because they are fast-acting. For toothache, Ketanov is an effective remedy.

An acute respiratory viral infection or the flu can take you by surprise even on the way home from work, and then you can take an antipyretic right in a traffic jam; for quick action, add medications containing paracetamol or ibuprofen.

Rennie, Almagel, Gastal and Phosphalugel help with heartburn. Emergency assistance for diarrhea on the road will be provided by Imodium, Smecta and Enterol.

For burns, you need to put Panthenol spray or ointment in your first aid kit. In the summer, the suitcase can be replenished with insect bite sprays, ointments and gels that treat the consequences of attacks by mosquitoes, bees, bedbugs, wasps, beetles and midges, including reducing allergic reactions.

It would be a good idea to put disinfectants in your first aid kit for treating wounds, which will come in handy even for a small cut on a picnic. Of course, the medical bag should contain medications necessary for chronic diseases of the car owner and his frequent passengers.

Car kit: first aid kit, fire extinguisher and emergency sign

Approximately 170 thousand road accidents occur per year. None of us are immune from accidents. The driver must prepare for any situation. In addition to the first aid kit, the car kit includes a fire extinguisher and an emergency sign.

Cars are a very fire hazard. During an accident, a fire extinguisher can save lives and reduce damage to the car. Choose powder or carbon dioxide products. A passenger car requires a volume of 2 liters and a weight of at least 2 kg. The cargo volume is 5 liters, weight is at least 5 kg. Keep an eye on the expiration date, the presence of the necessary labeling and instructions for use.

There are often situations when you are forced to stop in the wrong place. For example, the engine stalled. Warn other drivers - put up an emergency sign. He will protect you from new troubles.

Many motorists store the sign under the seat, providing quick access to it. It is not recommended to put the item in the trunk.

According to the new rules, the sign contains a fluorescent strip located along the internal perimeter, made of reflective elements, making it more visible. The total area is at least 315 cm2.

It is important to take into account all the requirements stated above. Then you minimize possible risks.

Expiration dates of car fire extinguishers - what the driver should know

Statistics on transport fires, unfortunately, show that their number is not decreasing, but, on the contrary, is greatly increasing from year to year. Therefore, a car fire extinguisher is simply necessary. Its presence must be checked by traffic inspectors when the car undergoes technical inspection. And the main thing for traffic police officers is not just the presence of this device, but also its good condition, which confirms the shelf life of the car fire extinguisher. This article will be about this and other complaints about the fire extinguishing device.

Requirements for a car fire extinguisher

The Code of Fire Safety Rules strictly states that in order to pass the technical inspection, you will need a car fire extinguisher with a volume of at least 2 liters. The same document does not say in which body it should be presented. But it is better to give preference to metal.

  • In this case, the fire extinguishing device must have a passport and a certificate of origin.
  • If it has not yet been used, then its receipt must be sealed.
  • Of course, the unit itself must be in technically acceptable condition, and the service life of the car fire extinguisher must not be expired.

If all these conditions are met, then the inspector will not be able to find fault with fire safety requirements.

Varieties

The same Code of Rules states that one of three types can be used in cars: powder, water or gas (carbon dioxide). Let us immediately note that the water version does not work at sub-zero temperatures. The water or aqueous solution simply freezes inside the case. And such a car fire extinguisher will be of no use, its suitability is zero. Therefore, we are left with powder labeled “OP” or carbon dioxide “OU”.

Of these two, experts distinguish the powder model. Firstly, it is not inferior to carbon dioxide in its fire extinguishing characteristics. Secondly, it is cheaper. Thirdly, it is lighter, therefore more convenient to use.

As for the brand, OP-2 and OU-2 are used in passenger cars. If possible, it is recommended to purchase models OP-3 or OU-3. They are more expensive, the same height as previous brands, only slightly larger in diameter and heavier in weight. But they have 30% more extinguishing agent, which is an important factor in extreme situations.

Where to buy and what is the price?

Many people wonder where to buy a first aid kit. It will not be difficult to purchase it. The new first aid kit does not require a license, because... does not contain medicine. When purchasing, check its list with the set according to GOST. Don't skimp on it, give preference to quality over price.

The first aid kit is sold in the following places:

  • Pharmacy. Good quality is guaranteed here. The cost varies from 100 to 300 rubles. The most famous FEST first aid kit is available in the pharmacies of IFK, Dialog and others.
  • Auto shops. You will find this item in any specialized place. Price 200-300 rub. The most popular in Moscow are “Avtomag”, “AvtoAll”, “Mikauto”.
  • Online stores. Tiu.ru there you will find standard sets up to 300 rubles, and more expensive options up to one thousand. They are also sold on Auto.ru, Ozon.ru, onlinetrade.ru, etc.

First aid kits are far from a scarce product. You will find them in many stores in your city. Don't neglect online stores either. Online shopping is very convenient and time saving.

Car first aid kit

How much does a car first aid kit cost?

Price. A first aid kit costs an average of 400 rubles.

How to choose. Focus, first of all, on the composition - it must meet the requirements: bandages, plasters, tourniquet and mouth-to-mouth device. If you plan to add additional medications to your first aid kit, choose a model with a larger capacity. You can complete the first aid kit yourself and put it in any convenient handbag or plastic case - there are no packaging requirements.

Where can I buy. First aid kits are sold in any pharmacy and almost every gas station. You can order it online - in marketplaces like Yandex.Market, Ozona or Wildberry. The composition is almost the same everywhere. The price depends on the case material and design. The cheapest ones are in plastic boxes. A bag with a zipper is more expensive.

Where is the best place to store a first aid kit in your car?

It is better to store the first aid kit in the car. Some people put it under their seat, others in the driver's pocket. Depending on the size of the first aid kit, choose any comfortable place. It is not recommended to put it in the trunk. You need to have quick access to it. A car collision can lock the trunk. While you are trying to get to the first aid kit, the wounded person will bleed to death. In such situations, immediate first aid is important.

Many drivers consider themselves special people - nothing will ever happen to them on the road. This type of thinking is common to many people, which is why most people neglect safety. Think about the lives of loved ones riding in the car with you. Such negligence can lead to disastrous results. After all, according to statistics, passengers sitting next to the driver more often die in accidents.

Why does a driver need a first aid kit?

Help in case of an accident. If people were injured in an accident and the ambulance has not yet arrived, it is important to be able, for example, to stop the bleeding.

Stanislav Marfin, worked in the rescue service for 20 years, responded to road accidents

If an accident occurs and the victim is bleeding, it is important to stop the bleeding before a specialist arrives. The car first aid kit has everything for this. There is no point in taking complex rescue devices, such as a ventilator, with you - an ordinary driver will not be able to use it correctly.

Show it to the inspector. A traffic police officer has the right to stop a car to check documents. In addition to documents, the inspector can also check the presence of a fire extinguisher, warning triangle and first aid kit. These items are needed for the safety of the driver and passengers in emergency situations.

Pass inspection. The inspection requirements state that the car must have a first aid kit. Without it, the technical station employee has the right not to issue a diagnostic card.

Help with minor injuries. It happens that a driver gets his finger pinched during minor car repairs, or children play with something sharp and get hurt. For such simple help, you don’t need a doctor - bandages from the first aid kit will suffice.

Expiration date of a new first aid kit

The improved car first aid kit does not include medications, so the shelf life of the car first aid kit is 4.5 years. After the period expires, you have the opportunity to use it for six months, after which you must update it, otherwise you will receive a fine.

A responsible driver monitors its condition and composition. If necessary, replenish its contents. Don’t forget - adhesive plasters deteriorate faster than others. Do not ignore the expiration date of pharmacy supplies and renew them in a timely manner.

What is the expiration date for a car first aid kit?

The expiration date is indicated on the label if it is a plastic case, or on the instructions if the first aid kit is in the form of a bag with a zipper.

Usually the period is about 4 years, it depends on the manufacturer. For example, the “Fest” first aid kit is good for 4 years, “Leiko”, similar in composition, is good for 5 years, and “Mizar” is good for 3 years.

After the expiration date, the first aid kit can be disposed of as household waste.

Fine for not being in the car

In a situation where the car’s maintenance was not carried out on time or when the car was inspected, a first aid kit was not found on you - a fine of 500 rubles. Incomplete set of accessories is subject to similar punishment.

Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia requires an explanatory conversation if a violation is noticed for the first time. The second time you will definitely be fined.

According to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Art. 124 and 125 provide for sanctions if first aid was not provided to the victim. The lack of a first aid kit, and therefore helplessness in front of the wounded, will lead to unpleasant consequences. In some cases it comes to imprisonment.

According to traffic rules, a driver stopped on the road is not required to present a first aid kit. However, the traffic police officer has the right to ask to see it. In response, ask to see your ID and a traffic rule clause obliging the driver to show the contents of the car. The persistent inspector will continue to stand his ground, then offer to draw up a protocol and invite two witnesses.

You have reasons to defend your rights. No one has the right to search your property without good reason.

Legislation

The mandatory presence of a first aid kit is established by the provisions of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation , and specifically by paragraph 1 of Article 12.5, which establishes a fine for driving a car that is not equipped with the necessary means.

The list of means can be found in the appendix to the traffic rules “List of faults and conditions under which the operation of the vehicle is prohibited.”

Item 7.7 of the list establishes that if the vehicle is equipped without a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher and a warning triangle sign, it is prohibited .

The specific composition of the car first aid kit was approved by Order of the Ministry of Health dated September 8, 2009 No. 697.

It was this legal act that made changes to the package and compiled a new list of medical supplies in the car first aid kit.

How to determine if engine oil is spoiled, read here.

As for the expiration dates of a first aid kit, from the point of view of law enforcement, an expired first aid kit is equivalent to its absence . Therefore, if the medical supplies in a car first aid kit have expired, then it is considered that the vehicle is not equipped with it at all.

Legal requirements and what changed in 2020?

The Ministry of Health issued an order to reduce medications in the first aid kit on 09/08/2009.

Previously, the composition included the following components:

  • analgin;
  • aspirin;
  • validol;
  • brilliant green;
  • corvalol/valerian;
  • ammonia solution (ammonia);
  • nitroglycerine;
  • Activated carbon.

The above drugs were excluded, leaving only dressings.

The changes are justified for several reasons:

  • Incorrect use of medications. It can harm a person. This matter requires medical experience.
  • Uselessness. Most drivers have never used medication during their entire driving period. The Ministry of Health allowed each motorist to decide for himself what should be in his pharmacy kit. After all, a person himself knows the drugs he needs.
  • Storage. Medicines are stored in cold places. The machine does not always have the optimal temperature for them, plus it is prone to changes. Pharmaceutical components therefore quickly deteriorate. They have to be renewed much earlier than the expiration date.

The use of bandages, tourniquets, and adhesive plasters is simple and does not require special knowledge. Providing first aid is not difficult.

Since 2009, the first aid kit has not undergone any changes. The new, improved configuration is optimal and will remain relevant for many years to come.

What is the difference between cases with the new and old set

Since 2009, there have been no medicines in the first aid kit - only means to stop the bleeding, plus a device for artificial respiration.
